'AMU ex-VC tampered with promotion process'

AGRA: A political science faculty at Aligarh Muslim University(AMU) on Monday sent a representation to Union HRD minister Prakash Javdekar alleging that former VC Lt Gen (retired) Zameer Uddin Shah had allegedly lowered her “weightage marks” thus denying her promotion to the rank of a professor. She has also threatened to file a criminal case against ex-VC for tampering with the documents.
Talking to TOI, Rachna Kaushal, an associate professor in AMU’s political science department, said that she received a copy of the weightage marks distribution from the University Grants Commission, which showed how it was tampered with and she has now approached the ministry. She claimed that the ex-VC had no reason to not recommend her for promotion as she secured the highest marks in the interview.
“It only reflects manipulation by the then chairperson of the selection committee, Lt Gen Shah,” she said.
