Swachata has vivid memories of herself as a little girl, entranced by the magic of watching her father performing in television serials, while she sat next to him. Her acting journey began with theatre in Kolkata, where she performed and directed plays, and took part in dance dramas. Through her hard work, she earned a First-Class Honours degree in Dramatics. Swachata then worked as an assistant script writer and director in Bengali television, to gain more experience “behind the scenes.”

Peary Chand Mitra (22 July 1814 – 23 November 1883) was an Indian writer, journalist, cultural activist and entrepreneur.[1] His pseudonym was Tek Chand Thakur. He was a member of Henry Derozio'sYoung Bengal group, who played a leading role in the Bengal renaissance with the introduction of simple Bengali prose. His Alaler Gharer Dulal pioneered the novel in the Bengali language, leading to a tradition taken up by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee and others. Mitra died on 23 November 1883 in Kolkata.
