Roger Charles Jamieson
With broken hearts, we announce the passing of Roger Jamieson, who departed peacefully on June 1, Roger was an exuberant and gregarious character, with a boundless talent for engaging with people. He had an enormous capacity for love and was the life of every party. He was a pivotal member of many communities and was liked and respected by an astoundingly broad circle of friends and associates from different walks of life. His wit, hard work, and determination will be sorely missed by all those who were lucky to know him.
Roger was a pillar of the Newfoundland and Labrador tourism industry, starting Kilmory Resort in the early s and growing it into a successful business. He contributed generously of his time and expertise as board president of Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador and executive committee member of the Canadian Tourism Commission, as well as serving on the board of the Tourism Association of Canada and chairing the NL Tourism Board. Roger was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his dedication in these volunteer pursuits. He was often consulted by those looking for insights on how to grow the industry he believed in so strongly as the future of rural Newfoundland and Labrador.
